· Gerge Easman patents paper-strip photographic film.
· Frenchmen, H. de Chardonnet invents rayon.
· Lewis Edson Waterman invents the first practical fountain pen.
· James Ritty invents the first working, mechanical cash register.
· Charles Parson patents the steam turbine.

· American, W.L. Judson invents the zipper.
· Edward Goodrich Acheson invents carborundum.
· Thomas A. Edison conducts his first experiment in the development of moving picture, employing his Kinetoscope and George Eastman’s roll film.

1895
· Lumiere Brothers invent a portable motion-picture camera, film processing unit and projector called the Cinematographe. Lumiere Brothers using their Cinematographe are the first to present a projected motion picture to an audience of more that one person.
· First practical system of wireless telegraphy is developed by Guglielmo Marconi, Italy.
· X ray is discovered by Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen.

1985
· Windows program invented by Microsoft.
· Adobe Post script, a programming language that describes the appearance of the printed page, is introduced by Adobe Systems, San Jose, California.
· American TV networks begin satellite distribution to affiliates.
· Stephen M. Case develops on-line services for Apple.
· Synthetic text-to-speech computer pronounces 20,000 words.

1986
· A high-temperature super-conductor invented by J. Georg Bednorz and Karl A. Muller.
· Synthetic skin invented by G. Gregory Gallico, III.
· Fuji introduced the disposal camera.

1987
· The first 3-D video game invented.
· Disposable contact lenses invented.
· Digital audio is introduced.
· Genetic fingerprinting is introduced, discovered by Dr. Alec J. Jeffreys of Leicester University, England

1988
· Digital cellular phones invented.
· The RU-486 (abortion pill) invented.
· Doppler radar invented by Christian Andreas Doppler.
· Prozac® invented at the Eli Lilly Company by inventor Ray Fuller.
· The first patent for a genetically engineered animal is issued to Harvard University researchers Philip Leder and Timothy Stewart.
· Ralph Alessio and Fredrik Olsen received a patent for the Indiglo ® nightlight. The bluish green light is used to illuminate the entire face of a watch.
· First computer morphing is introduced by Industrial Light & Magic in the film Willow.

1989
· High-definition television invented.
· Tim Berners Lee, a researcher at CERN, conceives Hypertext.

1990
· Canon Optic still-video camera records single-frame images onto a floppy disk.
· Tim Berners Lee and CERN (the European Laboratory for Particle Physics) release the World Wide Web program.

1991
· The digital answering machine invented.
· Apple releases QuickTime media format.
· Morphing by computer is fully exploited in James Cameron’s Terminator 2: Judgment Day.

1992
· The smart pill invented.
· Videophone 2500 introduced by AT&T.

1993
· The pentium processor invented.
· Mosaic is released (first graphics supporting Web browser), developed by Marc Abdreessen, Eric Bina, and the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA).
· V-chip is introduced.
· Blue LED is invented by Shuji Nakamura, Japan.

1994
· HIV protease inhibitor invented.

1995
· The Java computer language invented.
· DVD (Digital Versatile Disc or Digital Video Disc) invented.
· Toy Story is released, the first full length feature film created by Pixar Studios entirely by computer animation.
· Microsoft releases Windows 95.

1996
· Web TV invented.

· The gas-powered cell invented.
· Tamagotchi, the virtual pet, is introduced.

1998
· Viagra® invented.

· Scientists measure the fastest wind speed ever recorded on earth, 509 km/h(318 mph).
